Since 2018, Daniel has acted in the role of special counsel, leading the Hillhouse Property and Projects division. Daniel’s vast experience encompasses all areas of property law, including residential, commercial, industrial, retail, mixed-use project development, and the provision of associated business services. He provides advice at all stages, from acquisition, structuring and development to project completion. Daniel welcomes challenging and complex matters, and undertakes each project with the highest professionalism.
As the fifth generation of the Lilley family to join the legal profession, the law is in Daniel’s blood. His great-great-grandfather Sir Charles Lilley was Queensland’s second Chief Justice, who also held the offices of Attorney General and Premier.
"I have always been fascinated by putting together the legal structures to allow projects to grow. In certain developments like marinas and resorts there are competing interests between the marina, residential, retail, industrial and commercial elements of the development, which need to be blended together to allow the marina to operate efficiently. That gives me the greatest amount of enjoyment."
Clients typically come to Daniel when dealing with legal issues associated with commercial property, industrial property developments, large scale residential and CBD towers, shopping centres, retirement villages, mixed use and community title developments, resorts, marinas and marina related industries.
,, I have acted for clients throughout Australia and overseas on numerous projects for over 20 years and look back on those developments with a great amount of personal pride and sense of achievement. I look forward to doing it for another 20 years.
